Bucky
>>>Bucky’s mom writes: Bucky is adjusting extremely well into his new home. After his long ride home he met all of his canine brothers and sisters and that went very smoothly. He is very well mannered, sweet, and calm as you said that he was. He already seems to understand the rules of the house and hasn’t had a single accident in the house. He is starting to protest his crate, as he would prefer to stay on our couch or his new dog bed at night. He will be able to do that soon since he has been so wonderful in the house. We are so happy to have him in our lives. He is just another example of just how exceptional Greyhounds are! >>>Bucky writes: Wow! What a long car ride. Mom (that’s what she called herself) let me out several times to go potty on the way home but I didn’t know where I was going or how much longer it would take. We finally pulled into a driveway which mom said was my new home. I jumped out of the car and heard all kinds of barking from inside the house. I guessed I would have some friends to meet and did I ever. I first met my Australian Shepherd siblings and they were a little rowdy, but friendly. Next, I met my Cavalier King Charles sister and she was pretty nice. Mom warned me about this next one and man was she right! I had to meet the oldest sibling which is a Chihuahua that mom says can be grumpy sometimes and he was. Mom said that with time he would be fine and he already stopped growling at me when I get close to him. I knew I would win him over! Next, I got to see what could only be described as dinner but mom again said they were also pets. Doesn’t everyone know that chicken is something you eat! Well, not my mom. I now have 3 hens as friends and as long as I don’t stare at them too long mom doesn’t tell me “NO!” I also got to meet my new dad and all I had to do was run right up to him when he came home from work and he was smitten with me instantly. Mom told him something about knowing I was the right one or something. I don’t know what that was about but he sure did agree with her! I have been here for about 3 days and I have been just the perfect gentleman (that is what my mom says at least). Although, if I’m so perfect why does my mom still put me in that metal box sometimes! Well, I guess I do have one thing to confess. I did steal some butter off the counter but my mom is really quick and caught me red handed. Not only did she take that away but she moved all the other food I had my eye on too. How did she know what I was thinking? Anyways, since I’ve been in my new home I have learned that I can get on all the furniture except tables, I have to go outside where its cold to go potty (as if I would go in the house), don’t show any interest in something on the counters until my mom leaves the room or she will move it out of my reach, and that I don’t care for the steep stairs inside the house. Speaking of those stairs, I did try them with some help from my mom and I did better going up then down. Mom said I could try again some other day. I guess that is where her bed is but then why does she always want to lay on my dog bed with me! Oh, and yesterday I got to go on a nice long walk in the woods with all my siblings. Guess what I found out. My parents have lots of land and some really big watering holes. Mom called them ponds I think. I got kind of close and realized right away that I did not want to go in there! So, Aunt Dorothy and all my other friends who cared for me until my mom came looking for me, I just want you to know that I appreciate all the nice care that you gave me and you can be relieved that I have found my forever home to be happy in. My mom said something to me about being her angel on earth (her last angel, a Greyhound named Duke had to go to doggy heaven to run free at the age of 14 ½). She still misses him very much and had a difficult time after losing him, I guess that’s why she came looking for me, so now I’m going to be her angel. I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about all that business but I do know that she gives me lots of hugs, kisses, treats and toys and that I LOVE all the attention I get here! I’ll keep you posted on all my adventures in my new home!
Bucky shares a dam with Hank.
Bucky has the wildest tail! Is he part Meercat, Lemur or Racoon? He's a real character, yet sweet and calm as a Greyhound typically is.
